Mermaid Dinner

“Martina Priehodova’s artistic production usually consist of sculptural works made from ceramics and edible elements, with a strong focus on using and transforming natural materials and the addition of a small dose of humor. In her research she emphasises the metamorphosis process of the physical and philosophical matters, that are carefully digested through ecological and sustainable actions and ways of thinking. With the artwork “Mermaid dinner”, the artist wants to start a meal aesthetically and content-wise consumed elsewhere. Sea-themed crockery and black sand evoke a brackish and humid environment, in which jellies are plated. This representation of an intimate and sharing moment transports us to another dimension, an extraneous narrative that sets up the features of a meal that we can witness only with the imagination.”
